Welcome to Lit Spelling. By using our website or app, you agree to these terms. We’ve written them in plain language so they’re easy to understand. If you are a parent, guardian, or teacher, please review them with your learner.

Who can use Lit Spelling

Lit Spelling is designed for spellers of all ages. If a learner is under 13 years old, a parent, guardian, or teacher must create and manage the account and monitor its use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring their child's activity and ensuring the service is used appropriately.

Using Lit Spelling

Anonymous users

You can use Lit Spelling without creating an account for basic spelling practice. Anonymous users have access to limited features and content. Your progress may be saved locally in your browser but is unlikely to be reliable if you use different devices or browsers.

Paid subscribers

Paid subscribers have access to the full range of features, individual learning paths, progress tracking, and advanced content. You're welcome to use these features for personal or classroom learning. Don't copy, resell, or misuse the service. We may update or improve features over time to make the experience better.

Subscriptions and cancellations

We offer monthly and annual subscriptions at the same price on the web and in the iOS app.

On the web, payments are processed securely by Stripe. You can cancel at any time in your account settings or by contacting us, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. No partial refunds are provided for unused time.

In the iOS app, subscriptions are purchased through Apple as in-app purchases. They renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel them in your Apple ID subscription settings. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.

Accounts and access

You can use Lit Spelling without creating an account. If you subscribe or create one, keep your sign-in secure and don't share it. We may suspend access if there's misuse, fraud, or a security issue.

Signing in

We use passwordless sign-in for account holders. On the web, we'll email you a secure magic link; simply click it to sign in. In the iOS app, we'll email you a 6-digit code to type in, or you can use Sign in with Apple. Emailed links and codes expire after one hour and can only be used once; if yours expires, simply request a new one.

Child profiles

Family subscribers can create child profiles. The parent chooses the child's username and password, and children sign in with those details to see their own spelling practice. Child profiles can't view or change billing, subscriptions, or account settings; those stay with the parent, who is responsible for keeping the sign-in details appropriate and safe.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself at any time from Account, then Data and privacy. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile and practice history. If you subscribed on the web, deletion also cancels your Stripe subscription. If you subscribed through the App Store, cancel that subscription in your Apple ID settings as well, because Apple manages that billing and we cannot cancel it for you. You can download your practice history before you delete.

Content and ownership

The words, exercises, and design within Lit Spelling are protected by copyright. You're free to use them for learning but not to copy, redistribute, or sell them commercially. Words added to custom lists are automatically screened for inappropriate language, and we may remove content that gets past that screening.

Liability and warranties

Lit Spelling is provided "as is." We work hard to make it reliable, safe, and accurate, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service or error-free content. We're not liable for losses that result from using or being unable to use the platform.

App Store

If you use Lit Spelling through the Apple App Store, Apple's standard terms also apply to your download and any in-app purchases. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. If any part of these terms isn't valid under your local law, the rest still applies.

We respect your privacy and handle your data responsibly. For detailed information about how we collect, use, and protect your information, please review our Privacy Policy.

Updates and contact
